Why not 5 days per week? 4 days means we are paying 100% for 80% (if that) effort.

It's curious that this long-overdue directive is only coming after Thao was recalled. Just wondering if she was preventing Jestin Johnson from issuing it, or if he is feeling on the hot seat now and stepping up.

I can understand if people have to arrange for childcare but April to come back to the office? That sucks! I don't like how you're spending my money. You need to do so much better immediately

Color me cynical, but I'd guess this was a chickensht way to avoid going thru the layoff process with severance etc.

We shouldn't apply a sledge hammer to wfh. Negotiate with the unions to pay lower wages to employees who have shown they are efficient working from home in non public facing positions. Otherwise we will lose some of our best staff to private employers that pay higher compensation than we do, even though they ended wfh.

If you aren’t already nauseated enough, consider that the city’s payroll has increased 60% since 2019. With respect to the measures being considered to address the budget calamity (i.e., cutting the ONLY things that absolutely should not be cut), the Oakland City Council has taken incompetence to previously-inconceivable levels.
